The Cinema Lounge meets ONLINE via ZOOM on Monday, September 21, 2020 at 7:00pm. Our topic is Are We Ready to Return to Movie Theaters?
After six months of COVID-19, movie theaters are gradually re-opening in the U.S. and around the world. Fans eagerly looked forward to returning, but are plagued by one simple question: Is it safe?
Movie theaters and theater chains announced several safety precautions, including limited socially distant seating, requiring mask wearing when walking around, and wiping down seats between shows. Is this enough? Many public health experts still say no, that theatergoing will not be safe until a proven COVID vaccine is widely available. Others maintain that restaurants and houses of worship reopened, and movie theaters would be just as safe.
How do you feel about going to movie theaters again? Is it time or are we still not ready?
NOTE: We will spend the last 15 minutes on Chadwick Boseman's life and legacy.

Adam’s Rib Returns to a Movie Theater and Reflects on Chadwick Boseman
Last month my wife and I went back to a movie theater for the first time since March. It brought back familiar feelings but also illustrated how much life has changed. As more movie theaters reopen, I look back at my return, and the questions many of us are facing, in my first new Adam's Rib column. Next is an appreciation of Chadwick Boseman, the movie star and cultural icon who died on August 28 at age 43. He left us far too soon but accomplished so much in his seven years on film. Knowing now that for the last four years he was suffering from a deadly illness puts his achievements in a new light, showing that he exemplified the courage he so often portrayed on screen. My words won't do Boseman justice, but I do my best in my second new Adam's Rib column.
